ABOUT

The friends of the Plaza Growers' Market first came together on March 24, 2008 at the Allentown Brew Works. At that meeting and during subsequent gatherings, a dynamic group of farmers and citizen volunteers envisioned a sustainable market that would bring green groceries to a traditionally underserved area.

After a few meetings at the Brew Works and a few more at Johnny MaƱana's, the groups made a decision to start the Plaza Growers' Market in Allentown on June 4, 2008. Ben Miosi designed a wonderful logo and the marketing campaign began in earnest.

The Plaza Growers' Market in Allentown is a sustainable market as well as a community gathering place in Allentown's downtown where citizens can access healthy, local produce, thereby creating a farm-city connection and assisting revitalization of the downtown while protecting Eastern Pennsylvania's farmlands.

When we finally saw all of our producers assembled in one place, we quickly realized that we had more than just a growers' market; we had a gourmet market. The quality of meat, cheese, vegetables, flowers, baked goods and soaps at this market is unsurpassed in the region.

Join us this Wednesday to sample the vendors' wares!
